The Ballad of Daisy Weal

The Stories of Daisy Weal told in verse

Verses one to four represent books one to four.

Verse five is between books four and five.

Verses six, seven, and eight are book five.

Daisy Weal is about to be born,

is the world ready, opinions are torn?

Are the powers she has, in the service of good?

Or would she help evil, wherever it stood?

She could you know, there isn't a doubt,

for it's a great temptation, unless we all shout,

with one mighty voice to make sure she can hear

what's the most awful thing that most of us fear.

Its the simple fact that there's so much evil at bay,

that we need her to be our hero today.

The long wait is over and Daisy is back.

With the powers she has, she still leads the pack.

A horror from space looms overhead,

with intent to destroy and pillage we dread.

She made her mistakes in the years that have passed,

but please save the world now everyone asked.

With the help of a being from a parallel place,

destiny together they must ultimately face.

Combining their powers in one awesome blast,

the horror from space is a thing of the past.

Old John was a drunk, but he didn't care,

if he needed some help then Daisy was there.

She came down to see him whenever she could,

and he never knew why, but very soon would.

For a certain Sir Charles had evil in mind,

when several assassins he hastened to find.

The task that he gave them was simple indeed,

to despatch Daisy Weal with maximum speed.

But all of his efforts would lead him to naught,

as John played his part, and the knight he was caught.

From a long way away, in hunger he came,

searching for food, Twilnhump was his name.

He attacked all he saw, with anger so great,

that Daisy, his equal, was almost too late.

But to kill every person wasn't part of his plan,

it was another who plotted the last days of man.

Friends who were friends, were not after all,

they were nasty and evil and set for a fall.

So Daisy and alien went hand in hand,

to fight side by side in one final last stand.

While her mother watched and shed many a tear,

the story should have ended in her eighteenth year.

When she went and married her only true love,

by making her vows to our Lord God above.

But alone among humans she was unable to die,

everyone wondered, but no one asked why.

So taking her husband she answered the call,

and fled to the stars, bidding farewell to them all.

She carried on living, but William he died,

and all of creation shared her grief as she cried.

Then a strange furry creature came calling one day,

"I'm a Lentor, good morning," was all he could say.

"Will it be okay if I come here to live?

You are lonely and sad and I have comfort to give."

Five hundred years passed, all much the same,

when one Lentor died another one came.

Then came the day when a starship came down,

landing nearby with hardly a sound.

James Oxford and Jill had been curious to see,

who lived on a world where the suns numbered three.

Can you imagine the shock they must feel,

finding alive the great Daisy Weal.

"But its Dauntless now," she explained with a sigh,

"and there were times when I too wanted to die.

But I know that it's not an option you see,

while we live here alone, just the Lentor and me.

So I went up to William and sat by his stone.

and knew it was time that I stopped living alone.

The people back home are in trouble I fear,

and I really can't help them by hiding out here."

An England unlike any she'd seen,

all modern and polished and remarkably clean,

greeted her eyes as she suddenly appeared,

then into her mind came something she feared.

A presence of evil of incredible might,

came powering in, all ready to fight.

He wanted to rule the whole human race,

but was taken by Daisy to a much different place.

Where the guardians of time and reality and all,

took him to justice in response to her call.
